Pre and Post BER Assessor Training Course information
Combined Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessor Training Pre Course Requirements

Attendees must be able to commit 6 consecutive days, 9am - 5pm to the combined BER course.

You must achieve a minimum mark of 70% to become registered with SEI as a BER Assessor

All attendees will be required to bring their own laptop to the course everyday

A scientific calculator is required to work out calculations required for entering into DEAP
-
Complete online application form and submit online

Full payment of €1,995 is required prior to course materials being issued

On receipt of payment, we will issue comprehensive pre course materials & SEI DEAP 3 software
-
As this BER course is based on the SEI Dwelling Energy Assessment Procedure software all candidates require good computer skills
Other Preferential Requirements
As a pre-qualification for entry on the proposed dedicated BER courses, successful applicants for the BER Assessor Training Programme for new dwellings should however have Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Craft, Construction or engineering or other relevant discipline, or equivalent qualifications and relevant life and work experiences.
SEI & FETAC require that all BER training course providers adhere to the following procedure:
Training providers must retain evidence that the learners they admit to the courses have achieved the minimum entry requirements and must have a documented procedure for determining equivalence or prior learning with their conclusions. These items shall be held for a period of three years and made available for review on request by SEI during normal working hours for audit purposes.
If you hold a relevant qualification we require a copy of the certification, or in the case of relevant life and work experience we require a copy of your CV to be submitted.

Post Course Information
- You will need to contact SEI to obtain your exam eligibility ID number. The fee to undertake the SEI national exam is €100 + vat and can be booked from the SEI website
- Please note the only reference material candidates will have access to during the BER examination are hardcopies of the following documents:
- DEAP Manual
- DEAP Survey Guide
- Technical Guidance Document to the Building Regulations Part L - 2007
- Code of Practice for BER Assessors
- EU Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings
- On successful completion of the SEI exam you can proceed to register with SEI.
- Send an application form directly to SEI. Assessors will also be required to pay the registration fee of €1,000 by direct debit mandate.
- An annual fee of €100 will be charged by SEI for you to remain on their list of registered assessors.
- You will also be required to complete a direct debit mandate which is in respect of a €25 charge for every BER cert issued by SEI.
- The registration fee of €1,000 and subsequent renewals will also be made through the assessor/employers direct debit mandate.
SEI state “On successful completion of a BER training course, candidates will be awarded a Level 6 Certificate. These certificates are awarded by the universities, the institutes of technology, HETAC or FETAC. SEI will only register applicants who have been fully certified by the relevant certification body.”
FETAC’s assessments are carried out four times per year – in February, May, August & November. Statement of results and awarding process commences between 6-8 weeks after the assessment period.

Please note that you will be required to bring photo ID (driving license or passport) to sit final exam

Cancellation Policy: In the event of a participant needing to cancel their booking, our policy requires that a request is received in writing by Chevron Training & Development Ltd., no later than 30 days prior to the commencement date of the particular course signed up to. Receipt of any written request less than 30 days prior to course commencement will not be facilitated, as Chevron Training & Development Ltd will have insufficient time to fill that place.
