The SEI National BER examination is being introduced from June 2009, for persons who wish to register as BER assessors for All Dwellings and to facilitate ongoing competency testing of BER Assessors. This examination will be available at number of centres nationwide on an on-going basis. Certified assessors will be required to pass the national exam before applying for registration as a BER Assessor.
BER Assessors that registered with SEI before June 2009 will have until January 2010 to complete the National Examination. There will be no limit on the number of times you can repeat the national examination.
Please note that the only reference material candidates will have access to during the BER examination are hardcopies of the following documents:DEAP Manual
- DEAP Survey Guide
- Technical Guidance Document to the Building Regulations Part L - 2007
- Code of Practice for BER Assessors
- EU Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings
Chevron Training has developed an online training course to prepare candidates by providing various sample exams.
As the SEI National examination is web based, we felt that this course would be best delivered online for 2 reasons:
-
To replicate the process
-
To familiarise BER Assessors with completing web based exams
