For “best practice” the FETAC Level 5 qualification would be required, highly recommended and sought by most employers

CHILDCARE TRAINING COURSES

Chevron Training, the leading training company in Ireland, has introduced a suite of FETAC Level 5 Childcare Training Courses.

The thirteen separate FETAC Level 5 courses (Caring for Children, Working in Childcare, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Work Experience, Communications, Arts & Crafts for Childcare, Social Studies and After School Care, Home Based Childcare, Occupational First Aid, Understanding Youth Work and Substance Use Issues in Youth Work) will equip learners with the knowledge and awareness to fulfil the responsibility of caring for children in the home or within a supervised environment.

Learners that successfully complete all eight modules can attain a FETAC Level 5 Major Certificate in Childcare. This qualification is now required by The Department of Health & Children’s Free Pre-School year in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Scheme, however, in recognition of the complex nature of the attainment of staff within the early education sector, an interim qualification measure has been introduced. This interim measure states that where a pre-school leader has attained a component award pertaining to Early Childhood Education and Child Development and has 2 years experience working with children between 0-6 years, he/she will be deemed to be sufficiently qualified for the ECCE Scheme. However, it is expected that those qualifying under this interim measure will obtain the full FETAC Level 5 Major Award within 2 years of the commencement of the scheme.

Childcare Opportunities

The changing lifestyles of modern Ireland have fuelled an increase in demand for qualified childcare workers. This profession promises to deliver an exciting and varied career with job opportunities available in a range of childcare related environments including crèche facilities, montessori schools and playgroups. Chevron’s comprehensive range of FETAC Level 5 childcare courses will endeavour to prepare learners to work effectively within any childcare setting.

Jobseekers who satisfy the criteria for FÁS funding , may be able to attend Chevron Training’s FÁS funded training courses for free, as they will be able to avail of up to 100% funding for the course fee.
