• Appreciate the historical context of youth work in Ireland

• Be familiar with youth work policy developments

• Be familiar with the structures of youth services in Ireland

• Understand the nature and purpose of youth work

• Appreciate the value which underpin youth work

• Have acquired a knowledge of approaches to youth work

• Be familiar with some current issues in youth work.

Preferred Entry Requirements

• National Vocational Certificate Level 1, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.

Special Requirements

• Learners must have prior demonstrable interest in youth work activities
