Child Development Childcare Management Training Course

Course Objectives

• Recognise the capabilities and potential of a child during all aspects of the normative development process.

• Undertake observation and evaluation techniques and identify their impact upon childcare practices.

• Understand the influence of genetic, social, cultural and environmental factors on the overall development of the child.

• Recognise the relationship and interdependency between all the domains of normative development.

• Critically reflect on child development theory and evaluate its impact upon early childhood education and care practices in modern Ireland.

• Temperament and personality development

• Development of self concept and self esteem within a child

• Behavioural management theory

• Observation and evaluation techniques

• Ethical issues relating to the observation and evaluation of children

• Objectively reviewing the observation and evaluation results

• Theoretical perspectives on child development and its impact on childcare practice

Assessment Structure
