Chevron Training is officially
the largest BER training provider in Ireland. We have delivered more courses in more locations than
all other training providers combined. We were
the first provider to launch a full suite of energy
related training courses to the Irish market. Chevron
Training has been the choice for so many students for
many reasons but most importantly because we offer
flexibility and choice. We provide the most
comprehensive courses across all energy sectors and this
is also reflected in our most thorough and detailed
learning materials for the BER course for Existing
Dwellings.
Our course notes ensure that all learners gain a
thorough understanding of the theory behind each element
of the DEAP calculation along with the methodology used
for site surveying of existing dwellings. Our materials
also provide the required guidance and information on
applying the rules stated in the DEAP manual to
correctly calculate BER’s for a wide range of dwellings
of varying complexity. We have developed our course
notes on the specification for existing dwellings course
issued by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI).
“Student Satisfaction - Already over 90% of our new
dwellings students
have pre booked a place on our Existing Dwellings
programme”
Training Courses for Existing Dwellings
IMPORTANT NOTE: This Existing Dwellings BER Assessor training course is
aimed solely at those who have successfully completed a
New Dwellings BER Assessor training course.
SEI has issued the finalised specification for Assessor
Training Programmes for Building Energy Rating (BER) of
Existing dwellings. This course consists of 39 new
learning outcomes, which we have based our comprehensive
course material on.
The course will cover the following areas:
- Survey methodology for existing dwellings.
- How to assign the appropriate age band to a
dwelling.
- How to deal with insulation levels on existing
dwellings.
- How to use DEAP for existing buildings based on
information from an additional appendix to the DEAP
manual.
- Detailed explanations on how to conduct an energy
survey and identify the difference between various
relevant building components.
- How to complete an existing dwelling advisory
report.
- A complete training manual will be provided which
can also be used as a guide by the assessor during
actual house surveys
SEI have introduced a National examination which all
students must undertake and pass prior to registering as
assessors for existing dwellings. Our course will
prepare you for all aspects of this examination in
detail.
A revised version of the SEI DEAP software is available
from September 2008. This
course is not mandatory in order to take the National SEI exam, however we would strongly suggest that this
course is undertaken by all assessors as it contains
lots of new methodologies and is the only structured way
of preparing for the SEI National Examination.
We will be delivering BER Courses for existing dwelling
from October, Nationwide – covering all 26 counties.
This course will be 2 days in duration from 9.00am to
5.00pm and will cost €550.
As you aware, the demand for this course will be
phenomenal. We are now accepting pre-bookings on a first
come first served basis. To ensure that you have the
relevant knowledge and skill necessary to undertake the
National SEI exam, and have sufficient time to become a
registered assessor for existing dwellings prior to
January 2009, we would suggest that booking is made
without delay.
