How to become a registered Natural Gas Installer

In the interest of safety, Bord Gáis Networks state that gas installations should only be carried out by a Registered Gas Installer, in conformance with the relevant Irish Installation Standards (I.S. 813 or I.S. 820).

If you are a sole trader or a company who is carrying out natural gas installations or servicing or repairing natural gas appliances or installations, you can apply to become a Registered Gas Installer.

In order for an application to be successful, it is necessary to meet the published criteria, which include:

  • Gas safety qualifications (GI1 & GID)

  • Minimum insurance cover

  • A track record of safety
