Injuries due to manual handling account for one in three accidents that are reported to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) on an annual basis.

While the Manual Handling of Loads Regulation states a requirement for employers to provide adequate Manual Handling instruction and training, research has indicated that training interventions based solely upon improved technique are ineffective in improving work practices and reducing rates.

Consequently, FETAC in conjunction with the HSA have recently finalised a new FETAC Level 6 Manual Handling Instruction standard which forms an integral role in a new proactive Manual Handling Training System which is to be rolled out within the next two years.

Chevron Training will deliver the FETAC Level 6 Manual Handling Instruction training programme from May 2010.

This course will be of particular benefit to those charged with the responsibility for management of manual handling in the workplace as it will enable full compliance with this legislation driven industry to be achieved.

Jobseekers who satisfy the criteria for FÁS funding , may be able to attend Chevron Training’s FÁS funded training courses for free, as they will be able to avail of up to 100% funding for the course fee.
