Module Sequence

The Montessori Course FETAC level 6 consists of 6 Modules: It is very important that these modules are presented to the students in the correct sequence:

Module 1 to Module 6

Module 1: Theory and practice: (Montessori philosophy)
Module 2: Practical Life Exercises
Module 3: Sensorial Exercises
Module 4: Language Exercises
Module 5: Mathematics
Module 6: Culture Exercises

The Montessori Method is very structured and must be adhered to this sequence of modules.

The teacher in the classroom introduces the children to Practical Life first. For the first few weeks, that is the material (equipment) on the shelves for the children to use and to learn the work cycle. (Montessori Method of teaching)

Then the teacher introduces Sensorial materials and so on until all the areas in the classroom (prepared environment) consist of the different materials from each Module.

The first Module in Montessori is Theory and Practice: this module is to introduce the student to the philosophy of Dr.Maria Montessori and to understand her teaching methods and how to introduce the work cycle to the children (very important):

Each subsequent module leads the children into the next, for example after Sensorial is introduced then Language Module: the sandpaper letters are introduced to the child through sensorial methods - touching and feeling shape of the letters on the boards. Then the next module - Maths: the same applies: sensorial (touching) language (teaching name of number on board)
So it is vital that the sequence of Modules is introduced in the correct order to the student.
