Module 4: Montessori Language Exercises Training Course

Course Objectives

• Develop an increased awareness of the criteria by which self-teaching apparatus is evaluated

• Acquire skill in the use and presentation of the language materials

• Recognise the benefits of the language exercises to the developing child

• Acquire an understanding of the characteristics of the language material

• Be able to initiate a child into the language exercises

• Plan for continuity of learning experiences for children in the 3 to 6 year age range

• Develop original materials to meet the needs and interests of children

• Understand the rationale behind the use of the language curriculum materials.

• Overview of Montessori Language Materials and Literacy Philosophy

• Pre-Language Exercises with the Language Materials

• Phonetic Language Exercises

• Non-Phonetic Language Exercises

Assessment Structure

• Project 50%

• Skills demonstration 50%

Preferred Entry Requirements

• Level 5 Certificate in or equivalent.
