With over 400,000 septic tanks in use in Ireland and impending legislation requiring all tanks to meet european standards, there will be a huge demand for septic tank repair and maintenance technicians nationwide.
This course will provide students with an introduction into the workings of a septic tank, to enable them carry out necessary installation and maintenance works.
Please note that this course is not going to qualify students to carry out either site suitability surveys for new systems or systems inspection for existing units under the proposed legislation. Also please be aware that a EPA waste collection permit is required when collecting waste water. It is envisaged that all septic tank inspections will be conducted by local authority staff, hence there will not be any employment or business opportunity for the private sector in relation to septic tank inspections. The Local Authority Water Services Group is currently delivering inspection training to local authority staff nationwide.
