How to become listed as a Greener Homes Scheme Installer
Consumers require that the renewable energy equipment is installed by an installer who is trained and experienced in installing renewable energy systems, and who follows professional business practices. SEI is facilitating consumers by maintaining a list of installers who qualify for use under the grant scheme. In the first instance, the installer must have undertaken a certified training course in the specific technology, sign up to the Quality Assurance Mechanism, agree to dispute resolution through arbitration, agree to inspection, and provide a current tax clearance certificate.
The availability of trained and certified installers is an important element of the Quality Assurance Mechanism and the grant scheme in general. Chevron Training is an approved training course provider for all renewable energy technologies. All installers are required to obtain course certification remain on the greener homes qualified installers list.

Installer Training
All registered installers must undertake appropriate and accredited training by March 31st 2008. To make this possible, SEI in conjunction with the Renewable Energy Installer Academy (REIA) has developed training courses for each technology. These courses are FETAC accredited.
Currently these courses are delivered by Chevron Training.
Both Solar and Biomass courses are delivered over 3 days each, while the Heatpumps course is delivered of 5 days. The entry requirement is a National Craft certificate in plumbing or equivalent (level 6 in the national framework of qualifications). |
